This Valentine’s Day, security leaders and CISOs gathered at the Novotel Brussels City Center for another engaging edition of Security Leader Stay Tuned. The atmosphere was great with knowledge sharing and networking, complemented by an excellent hot and cold lunch buffet that kept the energy high throughout the day.

GenAI: Strategy Before Technology

The day kicked off with a session by Jens Meijen, Managing Partner at UMANIQ and PhD Researcher at KU Leuven. Jens emphasized a crucial message: “Value creation with AI starts from the ‘why’ – a long-term vision. AI investments should align with that bigger picture. Don’t just use GenAI because it’s popular!”

His presentation provided a comprehensive framework for approaching AI implementation, covering:

  • Risk management across reputational, operational, regulatory, and financial dimensions
  • The AI Act as an innovation catalyst rather than a barrier
  • Practical steps for security leaders to implement AI successfully

NIS2: Belgium’s Implementation Journey

Valéry Vander Geeten, Head of Legal at CCB, provided critical updates on NIS2 implementation in Belgium. With the registration deadline of March 18, 2025, fast approaching, Valéry outlined key requirements including:

  • Classification of entities and their obligations
  • The CyberFundamentals (CyFun) framework
  • Strict incident notification timeframes and how to do that
  • Significant penalties for non-compliance

For your information: we also organize a 2 day NIS2 Implementor training, a must if NIS2 will impact your organisation.

Security Architecture in Business Transformation

The afternoon session with Sheryar Malik, Director at INNOCOM, explored how security architecture must evolve alongside business transformation. Using practical frameworks and an engaging case study, participants learned about:

  • How to translate technical concepts towards your leadership
  • The Gordon-Loeb Model for security investments
  • Six Thinking Hats methodology for security communications
  • Strategies for aligning security with business objectives

Interactive Learning and Networking

What made this edition particularly special was the level of interaction among participants. Security leaders shared experiences, challenged assumptions, and collaborated on solutions to common challenges. The discussions were rich with practical insights and real-world applications.

Great News: Full Recording Available
