GDPR & conformity: certification as a useful tool
Are you aware of the new European Data Protection Seal and of the novelties in ISO 27001? Join us for some explications by our specialists at the Privacy Café in Waterloo on 21 November 2022.
Session 1 : Geert Somers and Janvier Parewyck – Europrivacy, the European Data Protection Seal
Europrivacy has been approved by EDPB as European Data Protection Seal to assess and certify the compliance of all sorts of data processing with the GDPR and complementary national data protection regulations. It enables applicants to identify and reduce their risks, to demonstrate and value their compliance, and to enhance their reputation and market access. It is the only GDPR certification officially recognized in all EU Member States.
During this session, Geert Somers and Janvier Parewyck (Timelex) will inform us about this new seal.
Session 2 : Vincent Defrenne – What is new in ISO 27001?
The information security management standard ISO 27001 was first published in 2005. It was revised in 2013 and has been updated again in 2022, and significant changes to Annex A are included. During this session, Vincent Defrenne (NVISO) will explain us the in and outs about the updates of this standard (including ISO 27001 and ISO 27002) and how we can sell the implementation of ISO 27001 to the board. He will also explain what the impact is for the DPO.
The concept
Data Protection Institute is the leading training company for Data Protection Officers (DPO) in Belgium. Throughout the year, DPI invites guests to talk about their job as a Data Protection Officer or Privacy Professional. We will discuss best practices and obstacles within the privacy sector, the impact of the European Regulation on an organization or just a critical look at current GDPR developments. During and after the presentation, there will be a cosy reception. It is also an excellent opportunity to network among colleagues.
The Privacy Cafe is a free network event and is organized 6 times a year (in both French, Dutch, and sometimes English). This particular Privacy Café is a special (international) edition in English.
Target audience
The Privacy Café aims to create a meeting place for professionals working with GDPR. It is the ideal opportunity to ask questions, gather information and gain knowledge. Of course, everyone is welcome at this event.
